- ➤ Lafayette Travel and Bayou Vermilion District are hosting the Vermilion Voyage from March 20-22, a three-day overnight paddle down the Bayou Vermilion that starts at Acadiana Park Nature Station and ends at Palmetto Island State Park, covering over 50 miles with meals and camping provided. - ➤ Downtown Alive! kicks off its 43rd free spring concert series in Parc Sans Souci with a Mardi Gras event on Feb. 13 featuring Dustin Dale Gaspard (with Certified Blues) and continues with shows on March 6 and April 10 featuring local headliners, running from 6 to 8:30 p.m. KATC

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The 900 block of Bonin Road will be closed from Tuesday, Jan. 20 to Friday, Jan. 23 for drainage repairs that include installing a new concrete pipe to improve road safety; drivers should follow detour routes on La Neuville Road, Failla Road, Verot School Road, Artisan Road, and Tolson Road. - ➤ Lafayette Consolidated Government has begun phase two of downtown sidewalk improvements — rebuilding sidewalks at six intersections and upgrading drainage to boost pedestrian safety. The work is expected to be complete by spring. KATC
- ➤ A small section of Ambassador Caffery Parkway at U.S. 90 in Broussard will be closed from 8 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday for concrete work on a new bridge deck (part of a $136 million U.S. 90 expansion) as drivers should use alternate routes to reach Lafayette. The Advocate
