- ➤ The Lafayette Parish School System is strengthening campus safety with clear communication, updated emergency protocols, and cooperation with local agencies. LPSS advises parents to keep contact details current and to download the JCampus app for real-time alerts. KATC
- ➤ SLEMCO is hosting an essay contest with submissions due by Feb. 20 at 4:30 p.m. to select two students who will win an all-expense paid youth tour (June 13 to 20) to Washington, D.C.; entrants must have a SLEMCO member parent. BY Local News
- ➤ Teams from all 28 public colleges gathered this week at the Meauxmentum Summit in Lafayette Parish. Hosted by the Louisiana Board of Regents, the summit focused on strategies that raised the college attainment rate from 45 to 52.5 percent through workshops, panels, and discussions. KATC
- ➤ State education leaders toured Acadiana schools during a two-day BESE summit focused on math and classroom engagement, and Early College Academy in Lafayette received Blue Ribbon recognition on Wednesday. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Acadian Ambulance is partnering with the American Heart Association this February to teach Hands-Only CPR across Louisiana and turn bystanders into lifesavers. The program helps individuals learn the two key steps needed to respond effectively to cardiac emergencies. The Daily Advertiser

- ➤ On Feb. 4, National Signing Day in the 337 saw 18 local high school athletes sign NLIs to play college sports; players from Lafayette and nearby parishes (Acadiana and Iberia) represented various sports. The Daily Advertiser
- ➤ Local PARC has opened registration for youth baseball and softball programs for kids aged 3–16 ahead of the season running Mar. 21 to May 9—local groups will manage registration with fees covering baseball needs, and parents should have a glove, helmet, and bat ready. KATC
