  • Louisiana’s coworking market is rebounding as renovated spaces open following setbacks from WeWork, with projects underway in New Orleans and Lafayette. New Orleans businessman Chris Reade is finishing work on The 1538 (a modern coworking facility) while local operators add options for freelancers and entrepreneurs.  The Advocate

CULTURE NEWS

  • Louisiana Comic Con will run on March 14 and 15 at the CAJUNDOME Convention Center in Lafayette — fans can enjoy celebrity guests, cosplay contests, gaming tournaments, and various vendors celebrating pop culture.  The Daily Advertiser
  • Tim Arbisi (the Piano Doctor) has spent 25 years tuning pianos in Lafayette and nationwide, starting from a local music store job to work for artists including Bob Dylan. His self-taught career reflects a passion for ensuring perfect notes in both grand stages and everyday homes.  KATC
  • Abbeville High School recently hosted its annual boucherie where students learned to process a pig into traditional dishes such as cracklins + jambalaya. The event celebrated local culture, culinary arts, and agriculture and was sponsored by Service Chevrolet Cadillac.  News 15

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lafayette Parish School System announced a new K-8 school named Paul Breaux K-8 on the northside that will merge Paul Breaux Middle, J.W. Faulk Elementary, and Baranco Elementary and serve 1,300 students; the school will be built on the current J.W. Faulk site (honoring the legacy of Mr. Paul Breaux).  News 15

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • AccuWeather released its severe weather outlook for spring 2026, forecasting that while fewer tornadoes are expected, severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and heavy downpours will hit Louisiana in March and April.  The Daily Advertiser

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State lawmakers will ask voters on May 16 if local governments should have the power to lessen or eliminate the inventory tax, which generates about $72M annually in Lafayette Parish. The amendment would offer parishes incentive payments — from $500,000 to $15M — to offset the tax change.  The Advocate
  • UL Lafayette's board approved selling five properties including a 600 acre research farm near Cade to help close a $12M deficit, with the university seeking legislative permission and appraisals underway; Interim President Ramesh Kolluru faces a special board meeting today to finalize his appointment.  The Advocate

HEALTH NEWS

  • The FDA is recalling over 20,000 peanut butter products because pieces of blue plastic were found during manufacturing. The recalled items were sold in 40 states (including Louisiana) and include small creamy peanut butter packets and peanut butter and jelly twin packs.  The Daily Advertiser

SPORTS NEWS

  • Teurlings Catholic girls basketball advanced to the LHSAA semifinals after defeating Liberty 62-48 on Feb. 26, led by senior Justsye George who scored 34 points to push her team forward; they will next face St. Joseph’s Academy.  The Daily Advertiser
  • Northside relieved football coach Jacarde Carter on Feb. 25 after his social media post — criticizing how funds were used for facility upgrades — led to his dismissal. He led the Vikings to a .500 record and a playoff win in 2025 and said he gave his best for the community.  The Daily Advertiser
