CULTURE NEWS

  • Lucky 8 Entertainment is set to bring Boosie Bash VII to the Cajundome on May 9 with celebrity guests including YFN Lucci, Plies, and others. Tickets go on sale on March 6 at the Cajundome box office (presale starts March 5) and VIP packages add early entry and meet-and-greet options.  The Advocate

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Experts say the war in Iran is sending shock waves through global energy markets that are expected to raise Louisiana’s gas and utility bills; prices already near $2.50 a gallon could increase while companies boost local oil and gas production if the conflict continues.  The Advocate

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A new hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy program launched by Ochsner Health and LSU Shreveport will start in Lafayette in May. Enrolling 24 students, it is the state's first-ever hybrid program partnering with local healthcare providers to ease a physical therapist shortage.  News 15

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Keep Louisiana Beautiful and Coca-Cola are partnering during Love the Boot Week to support recycling at cleanup events in 19 parishes from Apr. 18-26. Volunteers in Bossier, Ouachita, and Rapides (where dedicated drop-off pods have been installed) will help keep communities clean and honor America’s 250th birthday.  The Daily Advertiser

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lafayette Consolidated Government has closed the 300 block of Elmwood Drive (between Robley Drive and Maplewood Drive) to replace a subsurface cross drain starting today until Tuesday, March 10. Motorists should use detours via Robley, Broadmoor Boulevard, and Maplewood Drive while local access is maintained.  City of Lafayette

HEALTH NEWS

  • Inspections from Feb. 16 to Feb. 23, 2026 found that T-coon’s #2 Restaurant, Buffet City Kitchen, and The Chimes Lafayette had multiple critical health violations during reviews by the Louisiana Department of Health. Officials said the issues could impact diner safety.  The Daily Advertiser

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Monday, Mar. 2, 2026, 17 teams advanced in the LHSAA boys basketball playoffs regional round after 32 teams competed. Five area teams with byes, including St. Thomas More & Teurlings Catholic, played their first playoff games as live updates were provided by the Daily Advertiser.  The Daily Advertiser
  • The LHSAA girls basketball state tournament is underway at Southeastern Louisiana's University Center in Hammond between March 2 and March 7. Today, Lafayette Christian meets Holy Savior Menard at 1 p.m. while scores are updated throughout the week.  The Daily Advertiser
