- ➤ Five Acadiana first responder organizations will compete for grants of up to $10,000 each from SLEMCO’s customer-funded Operation Round-Up program this Spring. Eligible agencies may apply by April 1 and SLEMCO customers will vote from May 1 to 22 with winners announced on May 26. KATC

- ➤ A barn fire near Sadou in Lafayette Parish claimed 43 animals on Monday, March 2 at 10 p.m. — firefighters protected two nearby homes after combustibles placed too close to a heat source ignited the blaze. News 15

- ➤ Willow Charter Academy’s Dean of Middle School, Andrea Robert, received the Dean of Excellence Award from National Heritage Academies last week for improving student outcomes and supporting staff.
