- ➤ Students from eight Acadiana parishes competed at the 2026 Kiwanis Regional Spelling Bee on Friday in Lafayette (after winning school contests), with the champion for grades 6 through 8 earning an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. for the national competition. News 15

- ➤ The Lafayette Fire Department graduated 14 new recruits after a 16-week academy covering firefighting, EMS, and rescue response fundamentals.
