  • News 15 announced that Darla Montgomery will debut as anchor of News 15 Midday starting March 16 at noon + she will also join evening newscasts as Marcelle Fontenot steps down on March 20 to take a role at UL.  BY Local News
  • Moncus Park (913 Johnston Street) will host over 50 free spring events from March through May. Families can look forward to a Zootopia screening on March 13 and the Louisiana Iris Festival on March 29, as well as nature walks and wellness classes (parking fees support upkeep).  The Advocate

  • Viemed, a Lafayette-based healthcare company, reported $76.2M in net revenue by Dec. 31, 2025 — a $15.5M increase from the previous year and 26% higher than last quarter. The company projects $270.3M for the year and will add new maternal health services in 2026.  The Advocate

  • The Celtic Bayou Festival will run in downtown Lafayette on Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14, offering live music, dancing, food, and Irish whiskey at Parc Putnam + Chez La Fete House to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, with Louisiana Celtic Connection hosting the event.  News 15
  • Downtown Lafayette Unlimited released its Mardi Gras report showing strong family attendance across parades, with visitor counts ranging from 4,500 to 19,000 and 60 to 63 percent from family households (the data supports route planning for accessible viewing areas).  KATC
  • Flamenco dancer Fanny Ara will perform with Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Hyman Center, bringing local audiences a chance to experience her lifelong passion for an art form that embraces improvisation.  KATC

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Lafayette gas prices increased 56 cents in one week to $3.14 while diesel climbed to $4.33 as renewed Middle East tensions drove crude oil costs higher (according to American Automobile Association data). Local pump prices remain slightly above the Louisiana average.  The Advocate

EDUCATION NEWS

  • LCG and Lafayette Coca-Cola launched the PARC Scholarship Program to award one $750 scholarship each to a graduating female and male student-athlete who have actively participated in PARC athletics. Applicants with transcripts, a personal statement (300 words max) and a recommendation must submit forms by March 30, with winners announced on Monday, April 27.  City of Lafayette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Jeff Landry urged lawmakers to support community & technical colleges as the legislative session begins, saying more hands-on training is needed for jobs that do not require four-year degrees. Local leaders expect that increased funding will make technical education more affordable for students.  KATC
  • Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple's office (released a bulletin Friday, Mar. 6) now requires insurers to offer a 29% discount on hurricane premiums for standard fortified roofs and a 49% discount for gold roofs, a measure aimed at lowering property insurance costs for south Louisiana homeowners.  The Advocate
  • Starting July 1, Louisiana must spend $42.3 million more on SNAP (the food assistance program) as a new federal law cuts funding and tightens work rules, and costs may hit $151 million if the error rate stays above 6%.  KATC
  • Lafayette Consolidated Government began work on a 0.45-mile sidewalk improvement along Carmel Drive (from Teurlings Drive to the bridge near LA Hwy 94) in January, with completion expected in September. The $736,500 project will add ADA-compliant sidewalks and enhanced crosswalks to improve pedestrian safety.  The Advocate
