- ➤ Second Harvest Food Bank will open a nonprofit grocery store called Makin’ Groceries Store on its campus at 215 E. Pinhook Road in partnership with United Way of Acadiana later this year — the store will offer fresh produce, nutrition education, SNAP help and other services to address food deserts in north Lafayette. - ➤ Local book lovers can support the Lafayette Public Library by visiting the semi-annual book sale at the Heymann Center through Saturday — the sale offers donated books, movies and board games while all proceeds fund library events and help purchase new books, including $12,000 for a children's collection at the upcoming Northeast Branch Library. - ➤ One Acadiana announced a $1 million investment to buy 32 acres at Progress Point Business Park near U.S. 90 and Jefferson Island Road in Iberia Parish with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette committing to the Iberia BioInnovation Accelerator. Officials said work will begin now on infrastructure upgrades—efforts that aim to attract advanced manufacturing and pharmaceutical companies to the park. The Advocate

- ➤ Audubon Aquarium Rescue released 15 young Kemp's ridley sea turtles on March 20 at Grand Isle after they were treated for cold injury and sickness from a December flight from New England. The turtles, named for constellations, are now set free in the Gulf — with more scheduled for release next month as part of recovery efforts. The Advocate

- ➤ The Lafayette Consolidated Government announced that starting Monday, March 24, East Pont Des Mouton Road will be closed from Louisiana Avenue to Shadow Bluff Drive for utility work supporting the new Bucee's construction at the corner of I-10 and Louisiana Avenue. Residents can use detours via Louisiana Avenue & Shadow Bluff Drive until the work ends on April 7, and construction is set to finish by mid 2026. News 15
- ➤ Sen. Bill Cassidy met with leaders of the Lafayette Regional Technology Council on March 19th to discuss plans to grow high-tech business in Acadiana.
