- ➤ RoadRunner Disaster Relief, a veteran-owned firm, will build two mobile DMUs to house homeless vets in Louisiana as it raises $100,000 for modifications; the units include solar power & climate control and will be donated to the VFW & American Legion. The Advocate

- ➤ Festival International de Louisiane is celebrating its 40th anniversary by recruiting over 1,500 volunteers for 2,500 shifts + hosting an upcoming 5K run in Lafayette. News 15
- ➤ The Spring Stampede will take place at Cowboys Arena in Scott on March 27 and 28 with mutton bustin' and barrel pick-ups. Gates open at 5 pm; entry is $10 (free for children five and under), with mutton bustin' starting at 6:30 pm and the main show at 7:30 pm. KATC

- ➤ Students at Evangeline Elementary got a book vending machine donated from Atmos Energy on Tuesday morning. With tokens earned by meeting reading goals, they can select books for home libraries (part of Atmos Energy's Fueling Safe and Thriving Communities program), as school principal Felise Williams said the effort boosts literacy. - ➤ Handwritten notes of encouragement were added Tuesday morning to the house under construction at 301 Porch View Drive by Manuel Builders as part of the Love Our Schools Home Giveaway for students and teachers. - ➤ Lafayette Consolidated Government broke ground on the Bertrand Drive Revitalization Project on Monday, improving road safety, traffic flow, pedestrian and bike access, and modernizing utilities. - ➤ The state Senate approved a bill for a recreational alligator hunting season to let 5,000 lottery-selected hunters take two gators each. The measure comes as more than 3 million alligators are spotted across the state (and it heads to the House for debate). The Daily Advertiser
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Animal rights group PETA requested USDA to examine UL’s New Iberia Research Center after video footage showed monkeys in unsanitary conditions; UL said the video misrepresents its practices — noting the facility is under routine oversight. The lab houses over 12,000 primates and had 19 monkey deaths in January. The Advocate
