CULTURE NEWS

  • Author Jordan LaHaye Fontenot released her debut book, Home of the Happy, on April 1, detailing her family’s secret history of kidnapping and murder on the bayou — her great-grandfather’s body was found on Jan. 16 in Bayou Nezpique. Her investigation questions the conviction of John Brady Balfa with legal proceedings and a hearing planned later this year.  The Current
  • Festival International de Louisiane — presented by LUS Fiber — is a free five-day event from April 23rd to 27th that will bring music, food and art from many countries. Over 1,500 volunteers work to make the event happen, and locals can join a 5K run and buy local merchandise to help keep the festival free.  The Current
  • The 12th Annual Scott Boudin Festival in Scott will run this weekend with music, carnival rides and plenty of boudin provided by local vendors. New security measures — including metal detectors, a clear bag policy and a required chaperone for anyone under 16 — will be in place to keep attendees safe.  News 15

A Youngsville couple’s lawsuit has kept the battle active in state & federal courts for three years and may grow into a class-action if more buyers join.  The Advocate
