COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Elise Morrison, area director for the Boys and Girls Club of Acadiana, was named a Top 20 Under 40 honoree and will be recognized at a May 2 banquet. She grew up on Lafayette’s north side—attending Teurlings Catholic High School and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette—and said her late father—who helped families get affordable housing—instilled in her a deep commitment to service and noted that the city is evolving into a hub for innovation and creativity.  The Advocate
  • Scott Police increased security measures at the 12th Annual Scott Boudin Festival by using metal detectors and security wands and enforcing an under-16 chaperone rule—measures that led to no arrests or fights and will likely continue as the department plans to purchase its own equipment for future festivals. The changes proved effective at enhancing safety for attendees.  KATC
