  • Saint Martin Parish schools are hiring for roles including principals, teachers, counselors, nurses, custodians, and bus drivers; Lafayette leaders will host a 1 p.m. meet-and-greet at Rosa Parks Transportation Center for input on bus routes, and filmmakers can submit work for the Southern Screen Festival in November (student entries free).  KATC

BUSINESS NEWS

  • UL Lafayette is hosting a free business workshop at 5367 I-49 S. Service Rd., St. Landry on Wednesday, April 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event offers hands-on training + expert consultations for entrepreneurs, students and community leaders.  The Daily Advertiser
  • New Dunkin’ on Ambassador Caffery Parkway at 3546 will open Saturday at 9 a.m. to offer giveaways, games and a mascot appearance; the store will hold a ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m. and will donate $3,000 to Our Lady of Lourdes Foundation to support Women’s & Children’s Hospital in Acadiana.  The Daily Advertiser

  • Tour operators in Lafayette offer swamp tours near Lake Martin and the Atchafalaya Basin. Visitors can choose from eco-friendly kayak trips or guided airboat rides — each providing a unique look at local wildlife and Cajun heritage.  Lafayette Convention & Visitors Commission
  • Le Vieux Presbytere Museum in Church Point has opened a new exhibit honoring Grammy Award-winning zydeco musician Chubby Carrier and three local Louisiana Music Hall of Fame inductees; it is open weekdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.).  News 15

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lafayette Consolidated Government unveiled the design for the Bertrand Drive Revitalization Project Wednesday night to improve pedestrian safety and traffic flow for nearby residents and businesses. The project followed a groundbreaking on March 23 and subsurface work will begin June 1 with roadway construction set for Q1 2027.  KATC
  • The Lafayette Consolidated Government launched a Native Landscaping Guide to improve resilience and cut maintenance costs. Adopted unanimously by City and Parish Councils on April 9, the guide recommends using 75% native and 25% non-invasive plants for public spaces.  BY Local News
  • Ron Czaikowski, safety coordinator for the Acadiana Transportation and Safety Coalition, appeared on MidDay with Darla today to raise awareness about distracted driving; he explained that texting & cell phone use are major distractions that can compromise safe driving.  News 15

  • Downtown Lafayette is set to host Fit Fête Fusion on Saturday, April 11, a community wellness event blending fitness, food & local vendors. Organizers say the event aims to make healthy living accessible and plans to make it a monthly gathering.  KATC
