  • The Glenn Armentor Law Corporation selected the Lafayette Breakfast Sertoma Club as April's Non-Profit of the Month and gave it a $500 check. The club helps people with speech and hearing problems and supports music artists with hearing protection in Acadiana.  News 15

  • Festival International 2025 officially kicked off its second night at Scene Lus Internationale, drawing locals and global visitors while volunteer Neysha (Swirl Girl) returned to join the festivities.  News 15

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Due to heavy rains and flooding, Lafayette closed several roadways—Evangeline Thruway between the tracks and Pinhook Road, N. University at the underpass, and downtown streets including Jefferson Street and select blocks on Ambassador Caffery Pkwy, Moss, St. Landry, Surrey, Tideland Road, and Market Place. Officials said more closures may be announced as conditions change.  KLFY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Officials said that the Lafayette Parish Courthouse was closed yesterday due to heavy rain and flooding that created unsafe travel conditions for the public and staff—forcing the 15th Judicial District Court to remain closed for the workday.  KLFY
  • The Lafayette City Council voted Tuesday to declare a traffic signal at Marie Antoinette and West Congress streets a public necessity for the new Lafayette High School building; the measure lets officials acquire necessary rights-of-way from property owners—critical for improving traffic flow at a busy intersection.  The Advocate
