CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office warned residents on April 28 that scammers called from blocked numbers and left voicemails asking for callbacks with no explanation—these scammers impersonated law enforcement and urged victims to send payments or share personal details. Residents are advised not to transfer any money and to contact the department if they receive such calls. BY Local News
- ➤ Former Lafayette City Marshal Brian Pope will remain in jail for at least three more weeks after a judge said he broke his parole rules and delayed his hearing until May 21 so he can get a lawyer—he was convicted in 2018 for pocketing court fees. News 15
