- ➤ Blueflite, a drone logistics company that works with medical and emergency teams, will open an office today at the Opportunity Machine downtown in Lafayette to join a local network of health care, tech, and aerospace experts. The firm is backed by a $250,000 investment from Ochsner Louisiana Innovation Fund (and a $10 million fund from Ochsner Health with Louisiana Economic Development) to help grow its operations. - ➤ The Lafayette Parish School System reminded visitors that its security measures — a strict clear bag policy and weapons detection systems at event entrances — will be enforced for upcoming graduation and end-of-year events. KLFY
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Albert Glaude recalled his May 2024 storm when a huge tree fell on his home and repairs were delayed for over eight months due to insurance issues—he said the loud noise and damage taught him to never take storm forecasts lightly. - ➤ After years of delays, Lafayette Consolidated Government signed a letter of intent on April 24 to secure a new library home on the Northside near the intersection of Louisiana Avenue and Carmel Drive with a 99-year lease (at a symbolic rate of $1 per year) pending Lafayette Parish Council approval.
