- ➤ Drivers in Lafayette Parish are advised to expect delays along Lebesque Road as crews begin a six-week improvement project today—flaggers and lane closures will be in use. The Lafayette Police Department is accepting applications for its nine-week Citizens Academy with a May 12 deadline, and Rayne Frog Festival organizers in Acadia Parish are still seeking volunteers for weekend events starting Thursday. - ➤ Lafayette Police officers will serve diners at both Deano's Pizza locations on May 7 from 5–9 p.m.—all tips and donations will go to Faith House—supporting local survivors of domestic violence. The Daily Advertiser

- ➤ On Saturday morning, Cypress Hunt arrived for her McDonald’s shift and noticed a car in the usually empty Legends parking lot—by 8 a.m. Lafayette Police had ruled the incident a murder-suicide involving domestic partners aged 27 Samantha Breaux and aged 30 Jonovan Dauphine, and the investigation continues. - ➤ Accordion legend Jeffery Broussard, who recently appeared in the film Sinners with Michael B. Jordan, will perform at the Zydeco Capital Jam in Opelousas on May 10 from 1 to 3 p.m.—the event is held at the St. Landry Parish Visitor Center near I-49 exit 23 and marks his return to his zydeco roots as a St. Landry Parish native. - ➤ On Sunday, the Ragin’ Cajuns swept Georgia State 10—4 after Luke Yuhasz hit his third home run of the series and Lee Amedee recorded his first four-hit game as all nine starters got a hit.
