- ➤ Lafayette Animal Shelter and Care Center joins BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters event by waiving adoption fees for cats and dogs from May 1st to May 15th—an effort aimed at saving more lives. - ➤ Acadiana Center for the Arts will host the inaugural State of the Arts Symposium 2025 on June 13 from 1pm to 8pm to discuss how arts impact Lafayette’s economy and community identity. - ➤ Officials have issued a Flood Warning for the Vermilion River at Lafayette where water levels reached 12.3 feet yesterday and caused minor flooding at Beaver Park and Vermilionville—experts say the water will crest at 12.5 feet this afternoon and fall below flood stage by Sunday afternoon.
