- ➤ An Acadiana High School senior was honored Friday with a meritorious service award and scholarship for using CPR to save a classmate during an April emergency, and his quick action revived his peer before paramedics arrived. News 15

- ➤ Lafayette Travel will participate in the Festival Interceltique de Lorient 2026 in Brittany (France) as Louis Michot performs from Aug. 3-6. The Daily Advertiser
- ➤ Rain did not stop the 54th Rayne Frog Festival Friday night in Rayne as a 20,000 sqft pavilion sheltered rides, music and frog legs. Cajun star Wayne Toups performed until 11:30 p.m., and admission is $10 (children free) as the event reopens noon tomorrow with acts at 3 p.m. News 15
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Baranco Elementary School held a community party Friday to celebrate 100 years on Lafayette's northside. Alumni and students marked the milestone by assembling a time capsule to preserve the school’s long history. News 15
- ➤ Students from Holy Family Catholic Schools competed last Friday in the Marshal Reggie Thomas Leadership Challenge when finalists met with Lafayette city marshal, and one student won a new laptop computer. The program builds communication skills and trust between students and law enforcement and may expand to other schools soon. News 15
