- ➤ On May 14, the Lafayette Parish School Board approved a new teacher pay plan that starts first-time teachers at $50,000 plus bonuses for attendance, performance and teaching in underperforming schools — and the board voted to move the district's arts academy back to Lafayette High as Comeaux High faced declining enrollment. - ➤ On May 15th, the Lafayette Parish School Board voted 9-0 to raise certified teachers’ starting salary to $50,000 and approved moving Comeaux High School’s performing and visual arts programs to Lafayette High for the 2025-26 school year—moves aimed at improving teacher retention and enhancing opportunities for students. - ➤ South Louisiana Community College held its Spring 2025 Graduation Ceremony at the Cajundome on May 15, awarding 497 students with associate degrees, technical diplomas, or certificates and honoring 108 Adult Education graduates with high school equivalency diplomas.
