Good morning, Lafayette.

Yesterday, the Broussard Police Department held a sausage po’boy sale at City Hall at 310 East Main Street to raise funds for the wife of Detective Currie Rankin, who is facing cancer treatment expenses.

Each sandwich came with chips and a soft drink—money raised will help pay her medical bills.

DOTD said a crash closed the left lane on I-10 West past I-10/I-49 in Lafayette on May 18, 2025, causing heavy delays—an incident forced the closure of Ambassador Caffery Parkway, though I-10 West at Ambassador Caffery later reopened.

Golden Chick, a Texas-based regional fried chicken chain, will open a new store in Opelousas later this year and may open another in Scott at 931 Creswell Lane next to Burger King, possibly in August—construction on the Scott location will follow.
