- ➤ A Lafayette man, Jaylen Mouton, 24, was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison and 15 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to filming sexual encounters with a 14-year-old he met on Instagram in spring 2024. The Advocate
- ➤ A shooting at the Cardinal Inn Motel on US 190 in Opelousas on May 28 left a woman injured and led deputies to arrest a 79 year old man charged with attempted second degree murder after an argument — she was taken to Lafayette General Hospital and is expected to recover fully. News 15
