- ➤ 7Brew has received a building permit from Lafayette Consolidated Government to open its second location at 3200 Ambassador Caffery Parkway and work has begun by contractor Hutton (valuing the project at $1.5 million); the popular coffee shop opened its first spot last year and now runs 21 locations statewide. - ➤ Lafayette native Ernest W. Kinchen, Jr. was selected by CREOLE Inc. and the Catalon family as the 2026 honoree for the Richard J. Catalon Sr. Creole Heritage Award and he will be celebrated at Vermilionville on June 7 at 11 a.m. KATC
- ➤ Lafayette consultant Sarah Mary Toce Donlon (a third-generation Lebanese native) delivers spiritual messages on leadership and human dignity through corporate workshops, teacher retreats, and speaking engagements that help local organizations tackle change with deeper understanding. - ➤ Teachers in Louisiana earned the fifth-lowest salary among states with an average annual pay of $55,900 and starting salaries around $46,682, according to World Population Review. - ➤ South Louisiana Community College will launch the GM ASEP program in Fall 2026, becoming Acadiana's only college to offer this nationally recognized automotive training.
