- ➤ Patrick Greene, 37, a Sulphur High special education teacher from Opelousas, is facing upgraded charges of attempted first-degree murder—8 counts, domestic abuse battery with child endangerment, aggravated assault, and resisting an officer after he allegedly stabbed his 6-year-old stepson battling brain cancer in Leonville, and he remains jailed without bond as he awaits a bond hearing today. - ➤ A Bayou Chicot man, 73-year-old Kenneth Vicknair—accused of threatening a priest at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Pine Prairie and warning staff at the Diocese office that he would shoot everyone leaving if his demand was not met—was booked in Lafayette on a terrorizing charge. KATC

- ➤ Lafayette Parish School Board member Jeremy Hidalgo asked the Ethics Board for advice on whether vendors working with the school board can sponsor events at his bar — The Barrel in Broussard. - ➤ Teurlings Brooks Badeaux, a top high school baseball coach from Lafayette Parish, was named manager of Team USA’s 16U/17U White team and will lead young players at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina from July 23-27.
