Good morning, Lafayette.

Heavy rain is expected tonight after midnight as Tropical Storm Arthur moves ashore near the Louisiana/Texas border, with possible flooding between Lake Charles and New Orleans.
The National Weather Service reports Acadiana will see the heaviest downpour while wind issues should remain minimal (forecasts confirm).
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development said flooding on Lafayette streets during heavy rain is by design because water backs up in catch basins and storm drains in busy areas such as Ambassador Caffery Parkway (where low drainage limits runoff) and urged drivers to avoid flooded roadways.
Local officials announced a demolition plan to remove the remaining walls of Coburn's historic building — which partially collapsed a month ago — to reopen Second Street, with work set to begin after final coordination with contractors and regulators.
A contractor hit a main water line in St. Martinville on June 17 — isolating South Cemetery Road as officials repair the line and keep a Boil Water Advisory until tests clear.
Meanwhile, Carencro’s Phase 1-A water main upgrade, begun on June 1, may cause temporary brown water as work continues.
Today, Acadiana Veteran Alliance launches MAP Reach + a stabilization model to identify at-risk veterans and link them with vital services in the local community.
