ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A motorcyclist died Monday night on Ambassador Caffery after his motorcycle struck the driver side door of a car crossing from Galbert Road and the other driver, who suffered moderate injuries, was taken to hospital—police said the victim’s identity will be released after next of kin are notified as the investigation continues. - ➤ Carencro Police fired officer Zachary Segura, 25, after a June 14 accidental shooting in Youngsville that injured a woman — his father, Eric Segura, 54, was also dismissed and booked on a warrant for resisting an officer, interfering with an investigation, and aggravated assault. The Advocate
- ➤ Louisiana signed the Segus Jolivette Act to honor a Lafayette officer killed on July 25 in Jeanerette during a standoff that turned violent, creating tougher penalties for second-degree murder when arrests are violently resisted and allowing drug sellers to be charged with manslaughter if a death occurs—Rep. Chad Boyer said removed felony provisions may be revisited next legislative session. The Advocate
