ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A house fire on Cainwood Court in Carencro started when improperly discarded fireworks sparked a blaze that damaged two homes at about 10:30 p.m. Friday — firefighters from Carencro, Lafayette and Scott quickly responded, and no one was injured. KLFY
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ State data released Thursday morning showed that in eight Acadiana parishes, including Lafayette with 43% mastery, students had a small drop in English and science scores while math scores rose slightly — grades 3 through 8 saw similar gains. Education leaders said LEAP scores will count more in school ratings starting in 2026. The Advocate
