- ➤ A wanted fugitive, Gabriel Hunter, 36, was arrested in a Lafayette restaurant bathroom on Thursday after officers forced entry when he locked himself in, and he is charged with resisting an officer and criminal property damage—he also faces active warrants for domestic abuse battery and hit and run. - ➤ A Carencro man, Quintin Harvey Guillot, 41, was arrested on sexual abuse of an animal charge — the charge involves possession of pornographic images uncovered during a 2024 video voyeurism investigation that led to the seizure of electronic devices and his release on a $5,000 bond. KLFY
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Youngsville police officers will see a pay boost as the city council approved a raise that takes starting salaries from $42,000 to $45,000 — employees will also receive a 2% raise based on their years of service per Police Chief J.P. Broussard. The change aims to help retain current officers and attract new recruits. News 15
- ➤ Mayor-President Monique Boulet launched the Veterans Affairs Commission at the Stars and Stripes Fourth of July celebration to boost support for veteran services in Lafayette Parish—Acadiana Veteran Alliance CEO Andrew T.
