CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Federal authorities executed multiple court-authorized searches Tuesday and arrested several individuals as part of an investigation involving the FBI, ICE, and IRS—Louisiana State Police assisted in operations in Oakdale and Baton Rouge, and officials will hold a press conference today in Lafayette to unseal an indictment. - ➤ A pedestrian was killed in Lafayette on July 15th—police are investigating the incident. KLFY
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A column explains that Lafayette does not have enough money to fix its roads—parish funds fall short by about $5 million each year while the city spends more on new road projects than on repairs, which may force local leaders to consider new funding strategies for both local and state roads. - ➤ The Boulet Administration released a balanced proposed operating and capital budget of $803.7 million for fiscal year 2025—2026 that will fund public safety, drainage improvements, and road repairs in Lafayette. - ➤ Louisiana residents can now use their LA Wallet digital driver's licenses at TSA checkpoints and federal buildings after TSA approved the digital ID for three years, Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry and Motor Vehicles Commissioner Bryan Adams said. More than 1 million residents have already downloaded the app and it is accepted at over 250 airports—making travel easier.
