- ➤ Blaze M. Lachapelle, 24, died in a one-car crash early Sunday in Lafayette when his vehicle left the road, struck a culvert, hit a tree and caught fire—police said the crash remains under investigation. The Advocate
- ➤ A Lafayette family escaped a fire on the 200 block of Bellridge Drive late Friday night that destroyed vehicles and keepsakes—firefighters contained the blaze before it reached nearby homes. KLFY

- ➤ Air Products plans to develop the first carbon capture project in Louisiana beneath Lake Maurepas that would inject up to 5.5 million metric tons of carbon dioxide a year and require dredging to remove about 209,500 cubic yards of lakebed. Local opponents are urging a full environmental impact review as public comments remain open until July 30—citing concerns over water quality and aquatic life. The Advocate
