- ➤ Festival International de Louisiane pin sales raised $2,500 for Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Louisiana, which helps families with seriously ill children by providing housing, meals and emotional support near hospitals— the funds will also support the Family Room at Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s Hospital in Lafayette. - ➤ United Way of Acadiana and Hancock Whitney Bank partnered to collect school supplies for teachers in five parishes — Acadia, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Martin, and Vermilion — despite rain affecting the planned Stuff the Bus event. - ➤ Two Lafayette men are accused of kidnapping, shooting, and stabbing a man who was found on Prairie Highway in St. Martin Parish last week—one turned himself in on July 18 while the other was arrested in Texas and will be booked upon his return. KATC
- ➤ Two Baton Rouge men are facing charges after a violent encounter in Lafayette on Saturday, July 19 that left a woman injured—one man broke a police unit window while the other spat on officers—and both resisted arrest. News 15

- ➤ The Industrial Trades Job Fair has changed location to the Cajundome Convention Center on Tuesday, August 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.—over 50 local employers will be hiring for roles in construction, manufacturing, transportation, and other industrial fields. KATC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Youngsville Police Department and Lafayette Animal Shelter installed a new pet microchip scanner (positioned at 311 Lafayette St) to help residents check lost pets for microchips (providing quick access to owner information). The Advocate
- ➤ Protesters gathered at the Four Corners intersection in Lafayette to oppose federal cuts to SNAP and Medicaid and to raise concerns about discrimination in policy decisions.
