On July 23, 2015, a lone gunman fired at Lafayette’s Grand Theater—killing Jillian Johnson and Mayci Breaux and injuring nine before taking his own life—and ten years later the community honors the victims through scholarships and neighborhood projects.

One year ago in Jeanerette, a standoff led to the death of Senior Corporal Segus Jolivette, a trained hostage negotiator who is remembered by family and fellow officers for his kindness and dedication, and his legacy is honored with a memorial monument on Camellia Boulevard and a crime bill bearing his name.

The Cajundome is hosting Jurassic Quest and Brick Fest Live where families can become certified dinosaur trainers, pet baby dinosaurs, ride Jurassic jeeps and build with life-size brick models.
