- ➤ Various Acadiana parishes will host Halloween events for 2025—trick or treating is planned on October 31 in Duson, Carencro, Lafayette and Scott, along with a Spooktacular STEAM Fest at the Children’s Museum of Acadiana on October 4, a Monsters on Main parade in Broussard on October 10, and a Pumpkin Chunkin’ Contest at I-10 North Beach on November 1. Other parishes like Iberia, St. Martin and St. Landry will offer haunted attractions, trunk or treats and family-friendly celebrations with detailed times and locations provided for local residents. - ➤ Friday evening, students and neighbors gathered at UL campus to honor conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was killed at a rally in Utah Valley — Louis Cohn of Turning Point USA’s chapter said the vigil highlighted a rise in political violence and a deep loss for the community. KATC

- ➤ Louisiana Department of Health is asking rural residents, hospitals, healthcare providers and community organizations for input on its Rural Health Transformation Program to improve care in rural areas—responses will be accepted online until 5 p.m. on Sept. 24. The program will focus on strategies like improving innovation, sustainability and workforce development to boost healthcare access. KATC

- ➤ Louisiana football faced No. 25 Missouri yesterday at Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium, with redshirt freshman Daniel Beale starting after a win over McNeese.
