- ➤ Katie Guillory—a Carencro High graduate and former LSU athlete—lost her lower left leg in a jet ski accident on the Fourth of July and is now beginning recovery as her family hosts a community blood drive on Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at South College Shopping Center, with each donation contributing $30 toward hospital bills. - ➤ LFT Fiber opened its new downtown office at 214 Jefferson St. on September 12 — city officials including Mayor-President Monique Blanco Boulet said the move boosted local internet connectivity and quality of life.
