- ➤ Meltdown Snoballs will move into the empty former Burger King near UL campus at 1500 Johnston St.—the building has been vacant since early 2024 and owner Zein Clayton, who opened his first store at 16 in 2021, will run the new location. The Advocate

- ➤ The Acadiana Eats Festival IV is scheduled for Saturday, November 1 at West Village in Scott—this free event will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will offer food from top local restaurants, live music, a pumpkin patch, and children's activities. The Daily Advertiser
- ➤ Southern Fried Poetry, Inc. will host its inaugural writing conference in Lafayette from October 9-12, 2025. The four-day event features workshops, breakout sessions, and live performances - including a free public event at Feed & Seed from 6-8 p.m. - to connect local poets and writers. KATC

- ➤ Developer Phil Devey and Ochsner Health are planning Parc Bonin—a 30,000-square-foot mixed-use complex at 2807 Bonin Road next to Sugar Mill Pond—for an Ochsner clinic, office space and retail use. The project will include a 9,100-square-foot building for the clinic along with 12,000 square feet of office space and 10,000 square feet for retail businesses. The Advocate

- ➤ The University of Louisiana at Lafayette welcomed its largest-ever freshman class for Fall 2025 with 3,214 new students (a 4.8% rise from last year). Dr. DeWayne Bowie said the school is popular for its strong academics (which draw families) and a supportive campus environment. News 15
- ➤ Robbie Bush, a 75-year-old from Acadiana, is returning to college at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to study Introduction to Music Technology — he began college in 1968, graduated in 1976 after a music career with Glass Menageries, and his classmates value his unique view. News 15
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ News15 learned that Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser’s campaign account on X was hacked and used to share a video showing a woman dressed as a nurse engaged in explicit acts—officials say the post was flagged for adult content and is under investigation. News 15
- ➤ Youngsville property owners may soon get a 10% discount on flood insurance premiums after the city joined the National Flood Insurance Program's Community Rating System – over 1,500 local policyholders are expected to save money as rising costs are offset. Mayor Ken Ritter said the move is set to bring direct savings into residents' pockets. News 15

- ➤ Cardiology Specialists of Acadiana held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new outpatient center in Lafayette; the 10,000-square-foot facility will provide common cardiac procedures with shorter wait times and lower costs for patients. News 15
