- ➤ Lafayette Consolidated Government held an award ceremony Tuesday to honor disability awareness in the community and recognize those who provide advocacy, inclusion, and services for people with disabilities. The winners included 12-year-old Luna Bowles for her work with an Augmentative and Communication Board at Moncus Park—HUT as Business of the Year, Acadiana Native Plant Project as Nonprofit of the Year, Molly Guidry as Public Servant of the Year, Justina Plowden as Advocacy Award recipient, and Mary Hooks Baudoin as Community Achievement honoree. - ➤ American Legion Post 504 in Lafayette modernized its mission by removing its bar and upgrading its headquarters to better serve 120 veterans. - ➤ Lafayette Consolidated Government announced that a section of Pasa Place is closed to traffic through Friday, October 24—road work for the South Gravity Lift Station began Monday, October 6. Detour routes via South College Road, Girard Park Drive, Hospital Drive and Coolidge Street keep access open to the Heymann Performing Arts Center, Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center parking garage and MTS Physical Therapy Clinic. - ➤ Lafayette Consolidated Government announced that a section of Pasa Place has been closed to traffic for road work that began on October 6 and will continue until October 24—part of the Lafayette Utilities System’s South Gravity Lift Station project with boring operations by NCMC, LLC.
