  • SoLa Drones, led by Bruce and Jack Bosworth, is partnering with global drone maker DMR Technologies to build the Field Ranger X50 at its Lafayette facility, where over 500 jobs will be created for precision agricultural spraying on crops like sugar cane. The company plans to hire key staff in the next three months and expects to start shipping products as early as January — a move that positions Lafayette as a growing hub for drone development.  The Advocate

  • At Ochsner Cancer Center of Acadiana in Lafayette, patients with blood cancer get new treatments and caring help from a team of experts.   • Acadiana High beat Lafayette High by a score of 42 to 21 on Friday, extending its winning streak over its oldest rival to 19 wins. Syrian Joseph scored two key fourth-quarter touchdowns to secure the win — and Acadiana will face Southside next Friday in a physical district matchup.  The Advocate
  • Ascension Episcopal defeated Vermilion Catholic 35—14 in a Friday night high school football game played in Youngsville on October 17.  The Advocate
  • Louisiana’s top junior golfer, Noah Chauvin, committed to Georgia Tech on October 15 after weighing offers from LSU, Georgia Tech and Mississippi State — he said the school’s facilities will help him improve his wedge game before he leads his Blue Gators in the 2026 season.
