- ➤ Lafayette is set to become a major hub for the drone industry—several companies have announced plans to open operations that will bring hundreds of jobs to the area. Ryan Case, CFO of DMR Drones, said his firm will expand as Blueflite and FlyGuys also choose the city for their new base. News 15
- ➤ Raising Cane’s has introduced a limited edition cup that glows in the dark for Halloween at Lafayette locations. It is available with any combo or a 32 ounce drink for an extra $1.39—customers can scan the QR code on the cup to access a haunted virtual reality experience with games and prizes until Halloween. - ➤ More than 60 regional employers and resource providers will join the 21st annual Acadiana Opportunity Job Fair on Wednesday, October 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Heymann Convention Center, where job seekers can access opportunities that include support for persons with disabilities, justice involved and formerly incarcerated individuals. - ➤ Lafayette Parish school principals received checks on Monday from Love Our Schools to support classroom resources and student programs—local leaders have the flexibility to choose spending priorities based on their schools’ needs. KATC
- ➤ Caroline Jusinich started The Quad in 2023 to help adults with intellectual disabilities gain life skills and further education. The program grew from a small pilot to serve 35 students who live on campus and take university classes while learning skills like budgeting and cooking — key steps for independent living. - ➤ State Rep. Cleo Fields introduced the Teacher Loan Forgiveness Enhancement Act to have teachers' loans forgiven after eight years in public schools.
