BUSINESS NEWS

  • Mississippi-based Merchants & Marine Bank reached a deal to acquire FM Bank of Breaux Bridge in an all-cash transaction and plans to finalize the merger in the second quarter pending regulatory approval. FM Bank will continue using its name and Fred Mills will remain as CEO while its six branches in Lafayette, Breaux Bridge and Arnaudville serve customers with nearly $328 million in deposits.  The Advocate

  • Lafayette Mardi Gras parades will take a new route down Jefferson Street for the first time since 1993. Mayor-President Monique Blanco Boulet said the route was tested and announced by Lafayette Consolidated Government on October 27.  News 15
  • Lafayette offers five haunted attractions for Halloween—T’Frere’s House Bed & Breakfast reports footsteps, piano music, and flickering lights, while Fright Trail features over 40 actors on a 20-acre outdoor trail, and Chance Haunted Ride, Old City Hall, and St. John Cemetery host spooky tours.
