- ➤ Festival International de Louisiane celebrated its 40th anniversary by unveiling a special bilingual commemorative book on October 31 at a news conference, with the first copy given to Lafayette Mayor-President Monique Blanco Boulet. The 200-page limited edition will officially launch during Artwalk on November 8 and will join her office permanent collection. News 15

- ➤ New data shows the sugarcane harvest in Acadiana is about one-third complete and trending above the five-year average, with farmers collecting 7,000 pounds per acre so far. Chad Hanks from Advanced Ag said ample rainfall boosted growth and he expects the yield from younger cane to reach 8,000 pounds per acre and total 24 million pounds by season’s end — a strong turnaround from last season. - ➤ In Week 9 of Acadiana prep football, Andre Abshire rushed for 170 yards and five touchdowns for the Blue Gators while Alex Munoz passed for 162 yards and rushed for 169 yards with three touchdowns as the Rebels beat crosstown rival St. Thomas More. Parker Dies led Southside with 297 rushing yards and two touchdowns in a 70—35 win, and Owen Morris along with Joachim Bourgeois added 244 and 282 rushing yards with multiple touchdowns in wins over West St. Mary and Lafayette Renaissance respectively. - ➤ UL won a tough game by a score of 31 to 22 over South Alabama after scoring early and using a key goal line stand late in the third quarter + quarterback Lunch Winfield threw two touchdown passes while receiver Shelton Sampson made key catches to seal the win. The Advocate
- ➤ Acadiana's Wreckin' Rams won 49-21 on Friday night when junior quarterback Collin DiBetta made a kickoff return touchdown—he also threw and caught a touchdown that halted Sam Houston's comeback. - ➤ After two exhibition games, the UL women’s basketball team—with a new roster and staff—will begin the season by facing Bowling Green at 6 p.m. Monday in the Cajundome. - ➤ Notre Dame beat Lafayette Renaissance 38-19 on October 17 at Gardiner Memorial Stadium in Crowley — even after losing their starting quarterback early, running back Joachim Bourgeois rushed for 282 yards and scored four touchdowns.
