  • A freeze in SNAP funding has reduced food aid for many Lafayette seniors, leaving residents with fewer resources. A grocery giveaway hosted today by New Day Personal Care Services — CenterWell Senior Primary Care and Second Harvest Food Bank is providing needed support to ease food insecurity.  KATC
  • The Lafayette Farmers & Artisans Market at Moncus Park—operating every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon—offers fall produce such as winter squash, sweet potatoes, leafy greens and pears while local vendors provide seasonal fruits and artisan goods as temperatures cool.  The Daily Advertiser

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Pedro’s restaurant in Lafayette at 3323 Ambassador Caffery caught fire Wednesday night when an electrical short in a control box ignited the roof—firefighters arrived within 5 minutes to extinguish the flames as employees and customers safely evacuated and water and smoke damage now force the restaurant to remain closed until repairs are complete.  The Advocate

  • Lafayette neighborhoods are already glowing with early Christmas lights—residents in areas like River Ranch and Girard Park are decorating before Thanksgiving while official lighting events like Noel Acadien au Village have not begun.
