- ➤ On Saturday, volunteers planted new ferns and lilies across 16,000 square feet on Jefferson Street as part of a beautification event hosted by Parish Proud, Downtown Lafayette & Scapes, Inc. The project, funded by $250,000 from the city general fund and $20,000 from the Downtown Development Authority, aimed to boost downtown safety and local business activity. The Advocate

- ➤ Lafayette Parish School System updated its dress code for cold weather — allowing students to wear sweatpants on Monday. The policy also permits jeans and specifies that kindergarten to fifth graders can wear jackets with hoods while grades six through 12 must wear hoodless jackets. KATC

- ➤ Dozens gathered at Moncus Park on Sunday for the first Pink Dress 5K Fun Run/Walk hosted by Hearts of Gold Acadiana to honor breast cancer survivors and support early detection—nearly 20 local sponsors provided giveaways as live music and speeches uplifted the community. KATC

- ➤ The LHSAA Football Playoff Brackets came out on November 9 and show 32 Lafayette-area teams ready to compete for a state championship. The Bi-district round will begin on November 13 and top seeds include Lafayette Christian Academy in Select Division III and Westminster Christian Academy-Opelousas in Select Division IV. - ➤ The Louisiana High School Athletic Association announced the first-round matchups for the 2025 football playoffs today, arranging teams into Non-Select and Select divisions with top-seeded teams earning byes (such as Ruston and Edna Karr). - ➤ Jayden Hargrave of Kaplan rushed for 198 yards and three touchdowns on 29 carries to give his team a 28 to 20 win over St. Martinville while Damien Thomas of Westminster scored a touchdown and made three interceptions to help secure a 37 to 22 win and a district title. Kennan Brown of Lafayette Renaissance threw for 269 yards and three touchdowns for an 8 to 2 season as Jamion James of St. Martinville caught 11 passes for 202 yards and three scores and Owen Morris of Catholic-NI rushed for 248 yards and four touchdowns in his team’s win.
