- ➤ Local venues in Acadiana saw a busy week of live music shows as Jamie Bergeron and the Kickin’ Cajuns performed at Lakeview Park in Eunice Saturday and Wayne Toups with Jamey Bearb and Friends are set to perform at Cypress Cove Landing today—more concerts are scheduled throughout the week at venues in Lafayette, Breaux Bridge, and nearby towns. - ➤ Residents in Lafayette can view the Leonid meteor shower peak tonight—its meteors coming from debris of comet 55P/Tempel-Tuttle with about 10 to 15 meteors visible per hour under dark skies. The Daily Advertiser

- ➤ Yury Remedio, owner of the new Cuban restaurant on Johnston Street, is seeking to rezone a lot on Verot School Road for a 50,000-square-foot entertainment center called The Colosseum—designed with a pool, live music floor, and bars that mimic the Roman Colosseum—while nearby residents worry about extra traffic and noise. - ➤ Lafayette Consolidated Government and Basin Arts are inviting Acadiana artists to submit designs for a large mural that will cover the University Avenue underpass — a gateway connecting downtown with civic centers. Selected finalists will receive a $1,000 design stipend and the final artist will be chosen based on experience and artistic vision. KATC

- ➤ The first round of LHSAA state football playoffs ended with blowout wins in all eight divisions and several teams scoring over 50 points.
