- ➤ Students from Carencro High School volunteered at Second Harvest Food Bank in Lafayette to fill staffing gaps created by recent federal funding cuts & layoffs. News 15
- ➤ Hands Together, a volunteer-run nonprofit, hosts a free food bank at 5 p.m. each Thursday in the parking lot next to the Twisted Loop sculpture by the Lafayette Public Library, serving 80 to 100 people with a five-course meal from local donations — addressing food needs amid a housing crisis. - ➤ The Lafayette Parish School Board gave superintendent Francis Touchet a 3.8 out of 4 evaluation on Thursday, praising his efforts to improve communication, school safety, and facilities. - ➤ South Louisiana Community College will host its Fall 2025 graduation at the Cajundome on Thursday, Dec. 18 at 10 a.m. where more than 900 graduates will receive diplomas and certificates in various programs, setting the stage for future workforce and academic success. KATC
- ➤ The Lafayette Parish School Board met on Thursday, Dec. 11 to discuss new stipend proposals for educators with one-time awards for math teachers and shortage area staff (including paraprofessionals, bus drivers and attendants) as part of efforts to support school staff. KATC
- ➤ University of Louisiana at Lafayette computer science seniors presented their final projects to local tech companies, with professionals from CGI, Stuller, and S1 Technology mentoring them as they bridged the gap between classroom and industry. News 15

- ➤ Lafayette residents attended a public meeting on flood risks and drainage led by the Lafayette Consolidated Government. Officials urged residents to clear ditches to reduce flood hazards. News 15

- ➤ Local rider Kade Sonnier of Carencro delivered an 83.75-point ride Wednesday at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, earning $5,914. He has climbed to 594.5 points over seven broncs and is tied for third in average standings with the season set to conclude Saturday. KATC
- ➤ LSU coach Lane Kiffin may try to recruit quarterback Bryce Underwood after Michigan fired coach Sherrone Moore on Dec. 10. The transfer portal opens Jan. 2, giving Underwood a chance to return to LSU where a quarterback is needed. The Daily Advertiser
